Birding Event Planned for Pleasant Bay

WELLFLEET – Join the Pleasant Bay Community Boating in association with the Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary staff for an opportunity to explore some of the best birding spots on the bay.

The largest estuary on Cape Cod, Pleasant Bay is a biologically diverse and productive marine habitat, and an excellent place for birding year-round.

Sea ducks and other waterfowl can be seen in large numbers on the open waters and protected inlets of the bay.

Additional excursions will be offered periodically throughout the year and announced through the Pleasant Bay newsletter.

For those interested in participating, the event takes place on Saturday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

From 9-9:30 a.m., participants are asked to meet at the PBCB parking lot, before carpooling to Jack Knife Cove and then to Scatteree/Allen Point Landing and then returning to the PBCB parking lot at 11 a.m.

The cost for MAS and PBCB members is $7 per person and for member children 16 and under it’s free.

For non-members the cost to participate is $14 and $5 for non-member children 16 and under.

Pleasant Bay Community Boating is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of educational and recreational opportunities in the Pleasant Bay Area of Cape Cod with primary emphasis on teaching sailing to youths 8 to 16.
