Pickup Rolls Over on Rt. 6 Eastbound, Sends Driver to Hospital

ER medical symbolYARMOUTH – Yarmouth Fire and Rescue crews transported a man to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth this afternoon after his truck rolled over while traveling in the eastbound lanes of Rt. 6. causing major traffic delays.

State Police and Yarmouth Fire crews responded to the scene between exits 7 and 8 around 3:45 p.m.

According to Lt. Chris Caton, of the Yarmouth Fire Department, the 23-year-old crawled out of the vehicle after the accident.

Rescue crews requested a medflight but were denied because of weather conditions and the vicitim was taken to the South Shore Hospital Trauma Center.

Caton said the injuries sustained were serious but not life-threatening.

The accident caused eastbound traffic to back up on Rt. 6 and Willow Street in Yarmouth saw traffic backed up from Rt. 6A to Camp St.

The truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident and the victim was the only occupant.

State Police are investigating the accident.
