Pilgrim Back Online After Storm Shutdown

PLYMOUTH – The Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station is back online after shutting down last week ahead of Thursday’s Blizzard.

The station reconnected to the grid Sunday morning.

Pilgrim has been plagued by a number of unplanned shutdowns during winter storms in recent years, which is one of the reasons the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission downgraded the plant’s safety rating in 2015.

Before disconnecting from the grid, Pilgrim was operating at 30 percent power after a leak was discovered in a condenser tube earlier last week. The station is back to full power now, according to Entergy.
