PLYMOUTH – The Pilgrim Coalition will host a decommissioning forum tonight at the Plymouth Library.

The session will include a panel of experts who will discuss decommissioning concerns.

According to the Coalition, decommissioning a nuclear power plant can take decades to complete and the costs associated with it can run over a billion dollars.

With the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station set to close by June 2019, there could be continued risks.

The experts will address a number of questions the public has, including how quickly the spent fuel in the overcrowded pool should be removed to safer onsite dry cask storage, security, and emergency plans to insure public safety.

The Coalition believes that it is in the public’s interest for decommissioning to begin as soon as possible while.

The event starts at 7 p.m. and the library is located at 132 South Street.
