ORLEANS – Former Celtics player and college basketball star Chris Herren will return to the Cape later this month to take part in a free presentation titled “Playing Above the Influence”
Herren has been spent the last several years traveling the country as a motivational speaker, addressing the substance abuse that brought down his once promising NBA career and the determination that eventually led him into recovery.
The annual event is being sponsored by Gosnold on Cape Cod and will additionally feature appearances by players from The Cape Cod Baseball League, a K-9 demonstration and police vehicle tours courtesy of the Orleans and Brewster Police Departments.
There will also be free food, drinks, T-shirts and a Fatal Vision goggles obstacle course, as well as a raffle featuring autographed baseballs from the Brewster Whitecaps and Orleans Firebirds.
“Playing Above the Influence” will take place Saturday, July 15th at Eldredge Park in Orleans. The presentation will run from 5 to 6:30 pm and will be followed by the Firebirds and Whitecaps game and 7. Residents, visitors, and families are all encouraged to take part.
