HYANNIS – Barnstable Police came upon a robbery in progress at the Paddock Restaurant at the West End Rotary in Hyannis and arrested the suspects.
On Wednesday, August 20, at around 4:30AM, Patrolman Joseph Green responded to the Paddock Restaurant for a burglar alarm.
Other midnight officers also familiar with recent activity in the downtown Hyannis area responded as well and quickly established a perimeter while Ptl. Green approached the building.
Utilizing the darkness, he was able to spot one person to the rear of the building, who police believe was acting as a look-out. The suspect fled into the building.
With the assistance of backup officers and a police K9, officers located and arrested all three suspects inside the building.
A complete search of the building found that the suspects were using various tools while attempting to break into a safe in the business office, according to police.
The three subjects arrested are a juvenile, from Centerville; Marcus Anding, 20, from Hyannis; and Dajion Walters, 22, homeless from Hyannis.
All three are being charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime with the intent to commit a felony; possession of burglarious tools, and attempted safe break.
They were arraigned in Barnstable District Court and Barnstable Juvenile Court this morning.
