A man found shot and stabbed on a street in Bourne Village died early this morning at Tobey Hospital.
Antone Gutierrez, 22, was from Bourne, according to Bourne police.
Bourne police and detectives from the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s office are investigating the case.
“Preliminary indications from the investigation would tend to support that this was not a random act,” according to a press release from District Attorney Michael O’Keefe. Reached this morning, O’Keefe said he was not commenting further on the case at this time.
O’Keefe and Bourne Police Chief Dennis Woodside announced in a press release that at approximately 9:40 pm on Monday, April 14, Bourne police received a 911 call from a passing motorist that a man, who turned out to be Gutierrez, was lying in the street on Trowbridge Road in Bourne near the Cape Side Convenience Store.
Gutierrez was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:45 am on April 15.
An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The investigation is continuing by the Bourne Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.
