Power outage hits parts of Bourne, Plymouth

BOURNE – Several thousand Eversource customers were in the dark Wednesday night after a power failure hit sections of the Upper Cape and Plymouth area.

According to the utility’s outage map, more than 4,400 customers in Bourne and just over 6,800 customers in Plymouth were without power shortly after 8 p.m.

Scattered outages were also reported in Wareham and Sandwich.

No immediate cause for the outage was available, but the region was under a wind advisory Wednesday night, leading to the possibility of downed tree limbs causing issued with power lines.

The wind was gusting to near 40 mph at the time. 

By 9 p.m., the outage had been reduced to 1,600 in Bourne, with 500 still out in Plymouth.

By 9:15 p.m. All power in Bourne had been restored.
