PROVINCETOWN – Selectmen in Provincetown say they’re willing to take their time to fill the town’s vacant town manager position.

Selectmen had originally picked Richard Reinhard from three finalists to fill the seat, but Reinhard ultimately decided against accepting the job, leading selectmen to re-launch their search for a candidate altogether.

“The thought was that it would be better now to go back and double check,” said Selectman Tom Donegan. “David Gardner, the Acting Town Manager who is our Assistant Town Manager, is doing a terrific job as an acting town manager. Things are going very well for us right now, why not take a pause and just make sure that we’re doing the very best we can for the town,” Donegan added,

Donegan said he expects the search to last 4 or 5 months; the two remaining original finalists for the position will be considered again.
