Provincetown Women’s March to Coincide With Washington Event

PROVINCETOWN – A number of women are expected to take part in a rally in Provincetown on Saturday to coincide with the National Women’s March on Washington.

The local march will run from 10 a.m. to noon and will proceed down Commercial Street to MacMillan Pier, where participants will rally and will speak out about issues concerning women.

Organizers also plan to honor the Provincetown women depicted in the “They Also Faced the Sea” art installation.

The march begins at 10 a.m. at the Johnston Street parking lot.

In Washington, organizers are expecting 200,000 people to march on the National Mall on the day after Donald Trump becomes the 45th President of the United States.

As of Thursday morning, 211,000 people on facebook indicated their plans to attend the march.

“The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new government on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us,” organizers said on their website.
