Cape Cod Real Estate Sales Volume and Value Rise in June

BARNSTABLE – Real estate sales and value were up last month in Barnstable County, compared to June 2016 numbers.

That’s according to Barnstable County Register of Deeds Jack Meade, who reports that sales were up 7.7 percent and value up 2.7 percent from last year.

The median individual property sale value was up nearly 3 percent from June 2016 and there was an 8.5 percent decrease in the volume of mortgage activity.

“We’re trending in the right direction and knock on wood, hopefully it stays that way,” said Meade.

The median sales value last month was $360,000, which is $10,000 more than last year’s numbers.

Meade said that he is impressed with the 900 deeds that were recorded last month.

“We haven’t seen that number in easily a decade, so that tells me that the middle part of the market is picking up as well, we’ve been stronger in the lower-end, middle picking up and that’s accounting for those high numbers,” said Meade.

“I’m pleased to see that the median only dipped a little bit, traditionally it dips significantly in these three months coming up because the level of volume is down,” said Meade.

So far this year, the volume of sales is up 5.5 percent, total value of sales is up 8.7 percent and mortgage volume is down 2.3 percent.
