Red Cross Keeps Busy Helping Victims of Fires

Red Cross FlagMARSTONS MILLS – The Cape and Islands Red Cross Chapter in Hyannis has been busy in the last month helping families displaced by fires in the Cromwell Court apartment complex in Hyannis and at a house in Marstons Mills last week.

Cape and Islands Red Cross Executive Director Hilary Greene said about 250 volunteers help the organization support families and first responders in the case of emergencies.

In the case of the Cromwell Court fire, about 40 residents needed temporary housing and other assistance and 12 of those victims still have open cases with the Red Cross.

Green said volunteers also helped support first responders at a fire that keep Falmouth firefighters busy at Blacksmith Shop Farms in Falmouth over 13 days in the past month.
