SANDWICH – A local official is calling for the director of MassDOT District 5 to step down.
State Representative Randy Hunt says he has lost faith in Mary-Joe Perry in the wake of last week’s fatal accident on Route 6 where a truck crossed the median on the highway. Hunt has been an outspoken critic of the tree clearing project on the roadway; MassDOT has confirmed that trees were cleared in the area where the accident occurred.
Calls to Perry’s office for comment were unsuccessful, her secretary said Perry is on vacation.
