EASTHAM – The eleventh great white shark of the season was tagged in Cape waters Tuesday.

Dr. Greg Skomal, working with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, tagged the 14-foot shark north of Nauset Light Beach.

The conservancy is in the third year of a five-year white shark population study.

Researchers tagged 24 sharks last year which was up from 18 in 2014.

Last year, 141 great whites were identified in Cape waters which was an increase from 68 in 2014.

Of the sharks identified last year, 101 were sharks that had not been previously spotted.
