WELLFLEET – The safety of Route 6 on the Outer Cape is being examined again after another fatal crash on the roadway over the weekend.

Saturday’s crash killed Lucille Francouer, 76, of Rhode Island.

There were numerous fatalities on the road over the summer after various head-on collisions.

State and local officials are holding a series of meetings to examine the roads safety.

Officials will look into what can be done to improve the safety of the roadway, including some engineering improvements.

“We are looking to address it,” said Wellfleet police chief Ron Fisette, “We formed some meetings with the state highway department, [State Representative] Sarah Peake’s office, Wellfleet police, Wellfleet fire. We’re looking to talk with the Truro police and fire, Eastham police and fire, and try and identify what may be some of the causes or anything that can be done with the roadway.”

Officials plan to eventually hold public meetings to discuss the roadway’s safety.
