Sagamore Bridge Re-Opens To Traffic After Accident

sagamore bridgeBOURNE – The Sagamore Bridge is back open, hours after an 18-wheeler truck hit scaffolding and caused the bridge to close around 11:30 a.m.

Bourne Police assisted State Police in re-directing traffic to the Bourne Bridge, causing major delays on Sandwich Road between both bridges, Rt. 6A and MacArthur Boulevard at the Bourne Rotary throughout the day.

Traffic in the westbound lanes of the Mid-Cape Highway were backed up to Exit 2, as police diverted drivers to Exit 1C.

State Police re-opened the bridge to traffic around 3:50 p.m.

Police are not sure if the accident caused any damage to the bridge, but are confirming that there were no injuries and no other vehicles involved.

Police have not released details about the driver or more about the accident.
