police carBOURNE – A medflight crew transported a Bourne man to a Rhode Island Hospital early this morning after he was attacked by a man wielding a samurai sword.

Keith Nelson, 28, of Bourne, was arrested on charges of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Attempted Murder after he allegedly attacked the victim, 39, with a sword.

Bourne Police responded to 355 Shore Road and found the victim, who told police that he had been stabbed several times with the sword and that the suspect was still in the yard.

Police located Nelson in the side yard of the residence and placed him under arrest.

According to Sgt. Eric Diauto, the victim threatened Nelson over the phone before arriving at his residence where he was waiting with the sword in the wood line.

“Normally, we don’t have people attacked by swords,” said Diauto.

Police expect to file charges against the victim, including Breaking and Entering.

Nelson is scheduled for arraignment Monday.
