Sand Sculptures Set to Return for Yarmouth Summer Celebration 2017

YARMOUTH – Construction of more than 40 sand sculptures is now in its final stages and will be complete in time for the structures to be placed at Yarmouth area businesses and attractions later this month.

The elaborate creations are a popular component of the annual Yarmouth Summer Celebration, hosted by the town’s chamber of commerce, which is set to kick-off its 7th year on Saturday.

The structures, the largest of which tips the scales at nearly 25 tons, are erected by a team of professional sculptors form New Hampshire who cater their design to the particular place where it will go.

In years past, designs have included the names and logos of local businesses, nautical displays, and whimsical scenes. A full map depicting the locations of each sculpture is available online at YarmouthSummerCelebration.com

Sand castles aside, this year’s Summer Celebration will begin with Kick-Off festival this weekend featuring numerous family oriented events and activities geared toward locals and visitors alike. Scheduled events include yoga on the beach, nature walks, a farmers market, and an art show and sale.

The event culminates in the annual Ice Cream Chill-Off at Bass River Beach, featuring the top flavors from annual shops, and concludes with the judging and awards for sand sculptures.

The 2017 Yarmouth Summer Celebration Kick-Off gets underway this Saturday, June 24th and will run through Wednesday the 28th. Details on events can be found online, at local merchants, Yarmouth beach gatehouses, or at the town’s Route 6 Visitors Center.
