Sandwich Goes Back To The 1600s For Sunday Event

HoxieHouse2SANDWICH – Miles Standish will be there. So will the Reverend John Smith.

Dozens of Sandwich residents will dress in period attire on Sunday as part of Sandwich BASH 1600.

The event was moved from Saturday to Sunday because of the threat of rain on Saturday.

Bash stands for Bringing Alive Sandwich History, and as part of Sandwich’s 375th anniversary this year, each century of the town’s history will be celebrated in separate one day events.

Cindy Russell, who is chairwoman of the Sandwich 375th Anniversary Committee, said the day will start with a Pilgrim worship service.

The service will be at the First of Christ beginning at 9:30 AM and there will be costumed docents and displays.

Another highlight, according to Russell, will be a Wampanoag Summer Camp display set up at the Town Hall Square Park.

Other events will take place throughout the village from 10 am to 4 pm.
