EASTHAM – Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent George Price said he is in the process of evaluating comments that came in from the public this week, most in opposition to proposed fee increases.
The public comment period closed on Saturday. Selectmen in the towns of Eastham and Provincetown protested the fee increases, specifically raised fees for walkers and bikers to the seashore.
Those fees are proposed to go from $3 to $10.
Selectmen in those towns say raising fees for walkers and bikers encourages people to drive which is the opposite of what the towns are trying to do as they try to reduce traffic.
Price said that he welcomes the comments and after evaluating them and making a determination, his recommendation will be forwarded to federal officials for the final decision.
