WELLFLEET – The storm made a mess of things at the Cape Cod National Seashore, but now that it has passed, some residents are proving the Outer Cape is not just a summer destination.
“I have to tell you, especially yesterday, it was like a winter wonderland out here and it looked absolutely beautiful with the sun. There were some lucky folks who came up with some cross-country skis on our trails and had a great time,” said Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent George Price.
Park officials also strapped on some cross-country skis to evaluate storm damage at Marconi Beach. Price said the beach was thankfully spared by the storm.
The storm did, however, bring damage to the area, including destroying the Nauset Light Beach stairs and the Herring Cove north parking lot.
Both those areas have been damaged in the past. The dunes were also breached at Ballston Beach in Truro.
