Second Hyannis Open Streets to be held on Sunday

HYANNIS – The weather is expected to be nice for the second Hyannis Open Streets event of year on Sunday.

Cape-based band The Moonlighters will perform from 2-3:30 p.m. and members of the Ballroom Bliss will be on the street.

The Country Soul store will be marking its first anniversary and will be offering country line dancing from 1-3 p.m.

A Kids Zone will be held on the Village Green and will feature an antique fire truck.

“It’s a way for people to come out and enjoy fresh air and each other and see what our community has to offer downtown on Main Street,” said organizer and owner of Red Fish/Blue Fish Jane Walsh.

Hyannis Open Streets, which will also be held on September 17 and October 22, is presented by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District.

“It’s a free community event, it’s a community-building event,” said Walsh.

Festivities run from noon to 5 p.m.

There is free parking at the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority parking lot.
