BOSTON (AP) — Sen. Elizabeth Warren says she’d support her former bitter Republican rival Scott Brown if President-elect Donald Trump taps him for Veterans Affairs secretary.
The Massachusetts Democrat told WGBH-FM on Thursday that she has no doubt Brown “would put his heart and soul into trying to help veterans.”
Warren said she’d put her heart and soul into helping him.
The two were fierce rivals in 2012 when Warren unseated Brown, who filled the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Edward Kennedy, in the most expensive campaign ever waged in Massachusetts.
Brown served more than 30 years in the National Guard.
Warren also praised former Republican Gov. Mitt Romney, under consideration for secretary of state, saying he had “a pretty level-headed view of the world.”
