Silent Spring Institute Researchers to Make Presentations

schaider03HYANNIS – Silent Spring Institute researchers will be presenting recent studies of water quality on the Cape and common everyday exposures to breast carcinogens Thursday, October 9 at Barnstable Town Hall.

Dr. Laurel Schaider will be discussing results that compare the drinking water on Cape Cod to the rest of the nation.

Schaider will also share the progress on a study being conducted in Falmouth to determine whether eco-toilets can prevent pharmaceuticals and hormones out of drinking water.

A presentation will also be made by Janet Ackerman about the implications for breast cancer prevention with some results from a new study.

The study details the possible link between breast cancer with air pollution, flame retardants and other everyday exposures.

The presentations begin at noon Thursday at Barnstable Town Hall at 367 Main Street in Hyannis.
