BOSTON (AP) — Developers of a proposed Somerset casino have withdrawn from the competition for Massachusetts’ third and final resort casino license.
Crossroads Massachusetts LLC, in a letter released by state regulators Thursday, said it has withdrawn its application for the license designated for the state’s southeastern region.
The letter does not cite a reason. No one from Crossroads was present at the meeting and a representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is still looking to become the first to open a casino resort in the region with their proposal for Taunton.
The state Gaming Commission also voted Thursday to allow KG Urban Enterprises, which is proposing a casino for the New Bedford waterfront, to move forward in the competition with the condition they submit more financial detail in two weeks.
KG Urban Enterprises is competing with Mass Gaming and Entertainment, developers proposing a casino at the Brockton Fairgrounds.
