South Yarmouth Man Arrested for Stabbing in Hyannis

PoliceHYANNIS- Mashpee Police have arrested a 21-year-old South Yarmouth man after a stabbing at the corner of Center St. and Elm St. early this morning in Hyannis.

Barnstable Police responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. where they observed the victim, 30-year-old Albert Randall, on the ground with three stab wounds to the chest and arm area.

Police say Randall and his 18-year-old friend were riding their bicycles on Center St. when they were almost struck by a motor vehicle, driven by Marcus Pogue.

After the 18-year-old yelled at the car, Pogue stopped, got out of the car and engaged in an argument.

Randall recognized Pogue, but the heated argument ensued and Pogue returned to his car with a female passenger.

Police say the female tried to convince Pogue to leave, but Pogue ran back at Randall and the town engaged in a physical fight before Randall received three stab wounds.

Pogue ran back to his car and fled toward Main Street.

A description of Marcus and a description of the car and license plate were given to police at the scene.

Officers learned that the same vehicle was stopped by Truro Police days earlier.

A description of Pogue and the vehicle were given out to surrounding Police Departments, and around 2:50 a.m.  the vehicle was spotted and stopped by Mashpee Police near the Rte 28 rotary in Mashpee.

Pogue was found to be the operator  and was arrested and transported to the Barnstable Police Station.

He is being charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by a Dangerous Weapon.

He is being held at the Barnstable Police Department on no bail, and is scheduled  for arraignment tomorrow at Barnstable District Court.

Randall’s wounds are considered to be non-life threatening.
