WAREHAM – The parent company of Tobey Hospital in Wareham has announced $132,500 in grant funding for more than 30 local organizations.

Southcoast Health’s Community Benefit Impact Opportunity program aims to address unmet health needs on the South Coast. The company says some of the major priorities include addressing the locally high rate of chronic disease, income and ethnic based health disparities, teenage violence, pregnancy, and substance abuse, and behavioral health challenges.

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham is one of 31 organizations in line for funding.

“We are driven by our mission of promoting the optimal health and well-being of individuals in the communities we serve,” said Keith Hovan, the President and CEO of Southcoast Health. “We work collaboratively with many community partners and we are happy to be able to support this work through our new grant process.”

Southcoast Health also operates Charlton Memorial in Fall River and St. Luke’s in New Bedford.
