NEW BEDFORD – Southcoast Health has joined the Massachusetts Value Alliance.

The Alliance, which was formed by Emerson Hospital in Concord, South Shore Medical Center in South Weymouth and Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, aims to lower costs and improve care by sharing best practices.

Southcoast Health is comprised of several facilities in Southeastern Mass and Rhode Islands, including Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

“Southcoast Health sees this as a great opportunity to work with other community health systems to share some of the initiatives and best practices that we all have established,” said Linda Bodenmann, the executive vice president and COO of Southcoast Health.

The community-based health delivery system also operates Charlton Memorial in Fall River, St. Luke’s in New Bedford and Southcoast Behavioral Health in Dartmouth, along with two Centers for Cancer Care, three Urgent Care Centers, a physician’s network, an employed physicians group, a visiting nurse association and several ambulatory facilities.

Southcoast Health serves more than 719,000 residents in 33 communities.
