BOSTON (AP) — Southern New England is preparing for its first snows after a mild start to winter.
The National Weather Service is predicting much of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut will see a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain starting Monday night.
The Cape is expected to see light snow after 2 a.m. with just a coating of snow and sleet before 8 a.m. when the precipitation should change over to just rain. Temperatures should reach the upper 40 Tuesday.
The storm comes as the region is experiencing one of its warmest Decembers on record.
Parts of the northern New England states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine already saw significant snowfall this weekend.
