Spotter Pilot Photographs First White Shark of Season Off Monomoy

CHATHAM –  The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy has spotted the first great white shark of the season off Monomoy.

Pilot Wayne Davis photographed the shark Thursday afternoon just off Monomoy.

Earlier in the week, two other great whites were detected by electronic pinging devices.

The first was a shark identified by the Conservancy as “Scratchy,” detected in Shark Cove off Chatham.

The other was shark named “Cisco” that was tagged by OCEARCH in 2015. That shark was detected off Barnstable, Wellfleet and New Hampshire earlier in the week.
