State Police Warn of Hoax Phone Calls

BOSTON – State Police are warning the public about a phone scam.

Residents have reported phone calls from 617-740-7710, the South Boston Barracks, with troopers saying there has been a complaint or warrant issued against them.

The caller is then told they must meet with officers with money, up to thousands of dollars, to resolve the matter.

State police say the calls are hoaxes and that no police department would ever call someone to tell them there is a warrant or complaint against them or demand money.
