Substance Abuse Drop-In Nights Begin Tonight

MASHPEE – A program in Mashpee to help individuals and families struggling with substance abuse and addiction kicks off tonight.

The Community Health Center of Cape Cod will host drop-in nights on the first Tuesday of each month from 4 to 8 p.m.

The free Mashpee Substance Use Task Force program provides treatment options, counseling and education.

The drop-in center model is the first of its kind on Cape Cod.

Several human services organizations will be present each month, including South Bay Mental Health Center, Gosnold, Duffy Health Center, Adcare, Parents Supporting Parents and the CHC.

Each night will feature five to 10 “recovery angels” offering substance users and their loved ones support.

A clinician will also be available to meet with individuals to help them get the appropriate treatment.
