EASTHAM – A series of evening walks will be held under the moon at the Cape Cod National Seashore in Eastham this summer to explore Native American culture and the natural nightlife of Cape Cod.

The three walks, which are timed around the summer full moons in June, July and August, are sponsored by the Harwich Conservation Trust and Eastham Conservation Foundation.

Attendees will join 12th generation Cape Codder Todd Kelley and Native American Nipmuc/Wampanoag Marcus Hendricks and learn about the lifeways of the First People in relation to the rhythms of native plants and animals at dusk and during the night.

Participants will also learn why Natives told stories at night and why they fished at night.

The first walk under the Strawberry Moon is June 12. It will be followed by a second walk July 10 under the Thunder Moon. The final walk in the series is August 7 under the Sturgeon Moon.

The cost is $15 and pre-registration is required.

To register visit Harwich Conservation Trust dot org.

The walks run from 6 to 8 p.m. If they are rained out, scheduled make up dates are the following evening.
