Focusing on politics in advance of the general election on November 4, we interview Leo Cakounes, a Republican who is running for an open seat on the Barnstable County Commission against Democrat Mark Forest of Yarmouth.

Leo Cakounes from Harwich is the Republican candidate for Barnstable County Commissioner.

As owner of Cape Farm Supply & Cranberry Co., he is a hands-on farmer-businessman, running one of the biggest organic cranberry farms in New England. He and his wife Andrea have one daughter, Evangeline.

He also grows indigenous grasses for environmental betterment.

Cakounes has served in the County Assembly representing Harwich and served as the elected head of the Farm Bureau that serves Cape Cod for more than a decade.

He is the present Assembly of Delegates member from the Town of Harwich and he serves on the Barnstable County Finance Committee.

He is a past member of the Town of Harwich Finance Committee.
