Techies Weigh in on Net Neutrality

imsev100-017HYANNIS – The Federal Communications Commission recently voted to move forward with rules that would prohibit providers of Internet service to discriminate with regard to how fast information travels over the net.

Paula Hersey, president of the Cape Cod Technology Council, said since its inception, all traffic on the net was considered equal but some companies are considering new policies.

Hersey says if Internet Service Providers are allowed to charge for preferential access, it could significantly impact the Cape.

The FCC is currently accepting public comment on the proposal.
