Yarmouthport Man Dies in Three-Car Crash on Station Avenue

yarmouth crashSOUTH YARMOUTH – A 79-year-old man died in a three-car crash on Station Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Robert R. Froleiks of Bent Bluff Lane in Yarmouthport was in cardiac arrest when responders arrived at 2:05 p.m.

Yarmouth Fire Department staff provided emergency life support and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash happened between Old Town House Road and White’s Path.

The other two drivers, Juliette A. Moroney, 21, of Powderhorn Way in Sandwich and Jacqueline R. Bragdon, 39, of Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee were also transported to Cape Cod Hospital. They had  non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The initial investigation indicates that Mr. Froleiks was travelling southbound on Station Avenue in a Chevrolet Impala when he suddenly veered into the oncoming northbound lane at a high rate of speed and collided with the two other vehicles. It is possible that Mr. Froleiks suffered some type of medical emergency prior to the crash.

The Massachusetts State Police as well as Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources Officers assisted in traffic control as the roadway was closed for approximately two hours.

Members of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit assisted in evidence collection and members of the Barnstable Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit are assisting the Yarmouth Police Department with the ongoing investigation.
