SOUTH YARMOUTH – A Yarmouth non-profit that specializes in helping people with autism and other learning and development disorders introduced the public to its new, more spacious facility on Friday.

Transition Centers, which opened in 2008, provides day services, employment services and student services. They also offer physical activities like sports, dance classes and karate classes.

The organization held a Building2gether event on Friday at its future home at 728 Route 28. It raised money for the new facility’s equipment and for new programs.

Founder and Executive Director Christine Spaulding said the building itself will allow for much more programming and overall space, compared to their current location which they share with another agency.

Transition Centers has been looking for a new, bigger location for about three years, according to Spaulding.

“You cannot find a building this big that is on one level, so that’s what is so amazing about this,” Spaulding said. “We have people with disabilities who won’t have to go up elevators.”

The new location will also allow for a safer parking situation, according to Spaulding.
