MASHPEE – The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe will receive a $72,000 rebate check and honor from the Cape’s regional electricity supplier Cape Light Compact.

On April 21st, at a special ceremony, Cape Light Compact will present the Tribe with a check and plaque for the Tribe’s energy-efficient Community & Government Center in Mashpee.

The Tribe won the honor after having participated in a program that incentivizes developers and businesses to build energy efficient buildings that go above and beyond state building codes.

It’s a rigorous process, according to the tribe’s facilities director Mike Maxim.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy is among the other local entities that have participated in the program to exceed codes in constructing energy efficiency buildings.
