Names Released on Two Killed in Parachute Crash at Marstons Mills Airfield

parachute crashMARSTONS MILLS – Two people were killed in a sky-diving accident at Marstons Mills Airfield Sunday night.

Andrew Munson, 29, of Nantucket and his instructor, Eldon Burrier, 49, of West Lynnwood, Washington were involved in a tandem jump from a plane operated by Sky Dive Barnstable at the airport located on Race Lane, according to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Barnstable Police Chief Paul McDonald.

Police were alerted to the call Sunday at 5:19 p.m.

The skydivers hit a barn at 885 Race Lane near the airfield.

Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the report of a pair of skydivers apparently jumping in tandem and landing beyond the intended landing area onto the property across the street.

The two people were treated on scene by an ambulance crew and then transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

Boston Medflight was requested and was standing by at Barnstable Municipal Airport for transfer to a trauma center.

The accident is being investigated by Barnstable Police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts Aeronautics Association, National Transportation Safety Board, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
