Two World Cup Celebrants Arrested in Hyannis

police carHYANNIS – Two men were arrested last night after their celebration of the USA’s victory over Ghana in the World Cup caused them to create a dangerous situation in Hyannis.

Barnstable police began receiving calls about a man sitting on top of a black Audi waving an American flag and chanting USA as the car was traveling at speeds of about 35 miles an hour in the area of South and Main Streets.

Police eventually caught up and arrested the two, the 19 year old celebrant was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol, his chauffeur was charged with reckless operation and other motor vehicle violations.

A quantity of beer was also seized; police are not releasing the names at this time.
