WAREHAM – The weather is getting nicer and local residents will have an opportunity to explore Wareham during school vacation week.

The Wareham Land Trust and the Buzzards Bay Coalition will hold two walks this week where participants will have the chance to learn about the plants and animals that live in the forests and marshes in town and how to use field guides to identify them.

A walk at Marks Cove will be held Monday from 11 a.m. to noon.

Participants will wander through retired cranberry bogs, forests and marshes to search for plants, trees and flowers.

On Tuesday, a second walk will be held through the pine forests and salt marshes of Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary.

Walkers will quietly search for birds, mammals and reptiles that call the area home and identify them using field guides.

Both walks are free and for all ages.

Individuals interested can register online at savebuzzardsbay.org.
