Vineyard Conservation Society Hosts January Events

MARTHA’S VINEYARD – There’s some upcoming events with the Vineyard Conservation Society.

On January 19 at 7:30 pm there will be a screening in Vineyard Haven for the film “A Plastic Ocean”.

In A Plastic Ocean, an international team of adventurers, researchers, and ocean ambassadors go on a mission around the globe to uncover the shocking truth about what is truly lurking beneath the surface of our seemingly pristine ocean.

On January 12 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, there will be a “Full Moon Owl Prowl” event in Edgartown.

After dark, bats–Earth’s only mammal capable of true, sustained flight–may be everywhere around us while remaining hard to notice.

Join Felix Neck for a full moon walk to get a better look and listen to these amazing creatures.

On January 13, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in Edgartown, tack animals in winter.

The event features a presentation by Josey Kirkland from Felix Neck on tracking wildlife.

And on January 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in West Tisbury, take part in Arboretum Winter tours.

Join Polly Hill staff for a look at plants of interest.

At this time of year bark and tree structure stand out, along with fruits and berries.

Meet at the Visitor Center and dress for the weather.
