Wellfleet Town Meeting Voters Approve Money to Study High School Renovation

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Town Meeting voters have spent three nights this week pouring through the warrant.

Articles that won approval included just over $108,000 for the town’s share of a study on renovating Nauset Regional High School.

Voters also approved money to make upgrades at Baker’s Field recreation area and Community Preservation Act money to develop an affordable housing trust.

Wellfleet residents rejected money for a new fire department vehicle.

In the third night of town meeting, voters rejected an article that would have regulated parked food trucks, excluding them along a stretch of Route 6.

Wellfleet residents also directed selectmen to avoid using town money to enforce federal immigration laws unless a criminal warrant has been issued.

They stopped short of declaring Wellfleet a so-called sanctuary city.
