WHAT Season Continues in June with ‘Painting Churches’

WELLFLEET – The Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater season continues next month as a new production begins its run on the stage.

The theater presents “Painting Churches,” by Tine Howe, from June 15 through July 9.

Gardner and Fanny Church are getting ready to move from a Beacon Hill home to a summer cottage on Cape Cod.

Gardner, who was once a famous poet, is retired and slipping in and out of senility as his wife Fanny tries to keep them both afloat.

They have asked their artist daughter Mags to come home and help them move.

She agrees, as she hopes to finally paint their portrait and come to terms with them.

“Painting Churches” is directed by Daisy Walker and stars WHAT founder Gip Hoppe as Gardner, Laura Esterman as Fanny. Naomi McDougall Jones makes her WHAT debut as Mags.

Tickets start at $20, $12 for seniors, and may be purchased online at what.org, at the WHAT box office or by calling 508-349-9428.

A Pay WHAT You Can performance will be held June 16. A reception with the cast will be held June 17 and a Playmaker Talkback will follow performances on June 22 and 29.
