Whelan Endorses Cummings For Sheriff

KA_Cummings Sherriff Event_Hyannis_012716_048BREWSTER – Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings has been endorsed by State Representive Tim Whelan.

In an announcement Wednesday, the Brewster Republican called Cummings an effective leader.

“The professionalism and pride of service we see in the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office is a result of not only the proud women and men in its service, but also because the sum of its many parts are under the direct command of a leader who has been lauded locally and nationally for his excellence in service,” Whelan said in a statement.

“I am honored to have the support of Representative Whelan,” Cummings said, “I appreciate Tim’s excellent constituent services and his advocacy and partnership on public safety matters.”

Cummings does not face a challenger in Thursday’s Republican primary. Democrat Randy Azzato is trying to unseat the three-term incumbent Cummings in November.

Somthing needs to change, hopfully it will. The Barnstable House Of corrections is completley incompetent, insensitive, severley disfunctional and full of Creepy Crawlers thinking that they are all that & a bag of chips.Inmates do not recieve proper medical & mental services they say that they provide. I know this as fact. Inmates do not get to see the light of day durring thier incarceration. No outdoors at all.The food is not fit to be fed to lepers & the language that the CO;s use is so vulgar it would make you vomit & cry.The one positive thing is only the employees that are trying to make a difference are 86ed before they can even try to get a positive idea off the ground,Very frustrating ,for the handfull of them that are there that are trying to deal with this mean ignorant man.Shame on him for thinking he has done a bang up job. He has not.Somthing needs to be done to improve the rehabilatation of the prisoners. Not everyone in there is an axe murderer or Charles Manson, just human beings that made very poor choices and are now being treated like ca-ca…..they have familys and children and that system makes it imposible for anyone to want to recover and be a better person, please help and make a positive change.
