WHOI and Woods Hole Film Festival Team Up for Vacation Week Events

WOODS HOLE – School vacation week is here and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the Woods Hole Film Festival are teaming to present a week full of Fun & Films for Families.

The events include film screenings in Redfield Auditorium and hands on activities in WHOI’s Ocean Science Exhibit Center.

On Monday, the animated film “Song of the Sea” will be screened. Based on an Irish legend the film tells the story of the last seal-child and her brother, who go on an epic adventure.

“Wild Kratts Deep Sea Adventure” will be shown on Tuesday. The film features a segment filmed in Woods Hole on the research vessel Atlantis.

“The Boat Builder” will be screened Wednesday. The film stars Christopher Lloyd, who plays a bitter old man who agrees to help a boy avoid bullies if he help finish building a boat.

The week also includes educational programs at WHOI with a conversation about seal research on Monday and a discussion with the pilot of Alvin, a human occupied vehicle, on Tuesday.

The Splash Lab will also be open during the afternoon from Monday through Wednesday and feature hands-on activities.
