Woodruff’s Art Center Hosting Painting Exhibit

MASHPEE – Woodruff’s Art Center in Mashpee Commons will have on view “Portable Beaches – Local Scenes-To-Go” an exhibit of paintings of many favorite beach spots.

There are eleven exhibiting artists and there is an opening and “meet-the-artists” reception being held on Thursday, June 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Old Silver Beach, Popponesset Spit, Falmouth Heights, South Cape Beach, Loop Beach, Sandy Neck, Nobska Light and Aquinnah are just a few of the favorite beach spots that have been painted by artists who know these beaches intimately.

A collection of small artist books called “Beach Books”, also part of the exhibit, are a series of mini mixed media pieces in a rich variety of mediums, techniques, materials and processes by Mashpee artist Sue Dahling Sullivan.

There are eleven artists and eleven distinct styles.

Mashpee artist Betsy Payne Cook, who can be found painting at locations around Cape Cod year round, presents a collection of pastel paintings that are a reflection of all seasons.

Forestdale artist Candice Ronesi, whose realistic style is widely recognizable and collected, invites the viewer down a sandy path in her richly detailed acrylic “Dowses Beach”, encompassed by wispy grasses and a solid rock jetty to a seemingly protective bend.

Exhibiting artists include Roger Bigg, Amy Rice, Christine Anderson and Rebecca O’Donnell.
