Woods Hole Model Boat Show Returns This Weekend

WOODS HOLE – A longstanding Woods Hole tradition returns this weekend.

The Woods Hole Historical Museum will present the 11th Biennial Woods Hole Model Boat Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Scale models will be exhibited in seven buildings along Water Street and others will be in the water at two locations.

Races of radio-controlled sailboats will be held in Eel Pond and a pool will be built on the museum lawn for children to sail boats that they build from simple kits.

Exhibitors come from all over New England and beyond.

The centerpiece of the event is a village-wide array of model boat displays, featuring watercraft of every description.

There are also four special illustrated talks during the show on both days, focusing on shipbuilding in the 19th century and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV).

Tickets are $15 for an adult, $5 for ages 12 to 17, free for children under 12, and are available to purchase at the Woods Hole Historical Museum, Community Hall and MBL Club.

There is free parking available and parking meters will not be enforced on Water Street and Luscombe Avenue during the show.
