Wounded Vets Enjoy Weekend of Nantucket Sound Fishing

YARMOUTH – More than 40 wounded veterans enjoyed a weekend of fishing and relaxation on Cape Cod as part of the 3rd annual Operation Reel Heroes event.

The fishing trip on Nantucket Sound pairs local captains with 40 vets from the Wounded Warrior Project and 5 from the Cape Cod Veterans Center for a day out on the water. Participants get to fish for black sea bass, scup, fluke, flounder and striped bass.

“They had an absolutely wonderful weekend. They had a beautiful time and we’re extremely happy that everything went off without a hitch,” said event organizer Arthur Johnson.

“The fishing was great, we couldn’t complain. Everybody caught pretty much their limit of fish,” Johnson added.

Operation Reel Heroes is a non-profit organization comprised of boaters and fisherman who volunteer their boats and time to give thanks and honor our servicemen and women.
