Yarmouth Committee to Examine Cemetery Policy

YARMOUTH – The policy restricting ornaments cemeteryat Yarmouth cemeteries came under fire earlier this year after the town removed decorations that did not meet standards set by the town.

Now a committee is being formed on the issue, and the Yarmouth Parks and Recreation department is looking at changing the policy.

“We’ll be selecting seven members to sit on an Ad Hoc Committee who will be charged with reviewing all of the rules and bringing forth to the selectmen recommendations for changes,” said Pat Armstrong, the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department in Yarmouth. “We want to make sure that the community knows that we want to inform them, and we want to use every opportunity to keep them abreast of what we’re doing here in town,” she added.

Interested residents have until October 10th to apply for a spot on the committee.

Forms are available at the town of Yarmouth’s website.
